We are looking for an experienced Commercial professional to provide contractual and commercial expertise across the business. You will play a key role in supporting the management and delivery of projects, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, internal control frameworks, and regulatory requirements. This role will be pivotal in delivering robust post-contract management across a diverse portfolio of contracts, ranging from bespoke framework agreements to NEC, JCT, and other forms of contract.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage post-contract activities, ensuring high levels of commercial assurance across a wide range of contracts.
- Drive business performance through effective contract management, cost control, and identification of efficiencies.
- Support project managers in forecasting, budgeting, and spend control using strong commercial acumen.
- Assist with the development of budget estimates for approval, applying cost data and measurement techniques.
- Monitor and mitigate project risks in line with company processes, maintaining accurate risk registers.
- Conduct site visits to review delivery partner performance, validate costs, and manage compensation events or variations.
- Lead on contract resolution, ensuring affordability and value for the business.
- Partner with procurement to advise on contractual strategies, tender processes, and evaluation to secure cost-effective solutions.
- Implement commercial best practices in line with the internal control manual.
- Manage mini-tender procurement activities from inception to award for non-framework projects.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, stakeholders, and partners to drive mutual value.
Requirements :
- Degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
- Experience negotiating contract terms and handling contractual claims from delivery partners (desirable).
- Chartered status or working towards (RICS / CIOB / CICES) desirable.
- Strong background in contract management, negotiation, and claims resolution.
- Knowledge of cost value reconciliation (CVR), cost control, and forecasting.
- Experience with NEC and JCT contracts essential.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and ability to learn specialist software quickly.
- Experience managing both high-value, multi-discipline projects and high-volume, lower-value works (advantageous).
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to resolve disputes effectively.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
