This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Planner to play a key role on a large-scale mission-critical project. Working closely with project managers, engineers and commercial teams, you will be responsible for developing, managing and monitoring programmes across design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover phases.
The successful candidate will provide accurate programme information, identify risks and opportunities, and support project teams in delivering projects safely, efficiently and in line with contractual and commercial requirements.
Key Responsibilities Programme Development & Control
- Develop and maintain baseline contract programmes, ensuring robust logic links and clear critical path analysis.
- Prepare construction target programmes that identify opportunities for improved efficiency and project delivery.
- Develop procurement and tender event programmes, including design release schedules and subcontractor lead-in activities.
- Maintain programme documentation within the Common Data Environment (CDE).
- Produce 2D phasing plans and 4D construction models to demonstrate build sequences, logistics and delivery strategies.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop construction methodologies and sequencing plans.
- Support project preliminaries planning, including staffing, logistics and temporary works requirements.
- Liaise with the supply chain to incorporate design deliverables, lead-in times, construction durations and resource requirements.
- Identify programme risks and opportunities, implementing mitigation measures and time-risk allowances where appropriate.
- Develop and monitor tracking schedules to validate subcontractor performance against programme.
- Produce as-built programmes and analyse deviations from baseline schedules.
- Support change management processes by assessing programme impacts and supporting approval workflows.
- Utilise 2D and 4D planning information to communicate project status and progress.
- Produce validated productivity and output metrics to monitor live project performance and support future tender planning.
- Conduct peer reviews to maintain programme quality, consistency and accuracy.
- Report programme status, risks and progress to project leadership and key stakeholders.
- Support and mentor Assistant and Graduate Planners.
- Coordinate planning activities throughout pre-construction and project delivery phases.
- Assist with programme entitlement assessments under contract forms such as NEC and JCT.
- Lead weekly and monthly programme reporting activities.
- Ensure quality and consistency across all planning documentation.
- Benchmark project durations using subcontractor feedback, historical project data and industry best practice.
- Degree or Diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
- Certification or advanced training in planning software such as Asta Powerproject.
- Previous experience in a Planner role on large-scale construction, infrastructure, mission-critical or data centre projects.
- Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling methodologies and programme risk management.
- Membership (or working towards membership) of a professional body such as CIOB, ICE or APM.
- Advanced Asta Powerproject training, including S-curve reporting, progress analysis and resource management.
- Experience using Synchro, BIM technologies and collaborative data platforms.
- Knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract.
- Presentation, communication and leadership training.
- Previous experience working on data centre or other mission-critical construction projects.
