Our client are a leading construction company who focus on large scale commercial and residential projects across the North West. We are recruiting for a  MEP Preconstruction Manager  to join their team focusing on projects during the preconstruction stage. The role provides technical leadership throughout the pre-construction phase, from bid through to project award, ensuring building services designs are fully coordinated, compliant, commercially viable, buildable and aligned with programme objectives.

Ideal Candidate

  • Mechanically biased.
  • Prior experience working on projects during the preconstruction stage. 
  • 10+ years’ Building Services experience would be beneficial.
  • Main Contractor or Tier 1 MEP Contractor background.
  • Experience on  £30m+ complex projects.
  • Strong Design & Build experience.
  • Experienced in consultant/subcontractor design management.
  • Strong  BIM / ISO 19650  knowledge.
  • Degree/HNC/HND in MEP, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • SMSTS, CSCS  and ideally Chartered/working towards Chartership.
  • Strong communicator, technically confident, commercially aware and  solutions-focused.

Duties include
  • Lead MEP design management from tender through contract award.
  • Act as the key interface between MEP, consultants, clients, subcontractors and construction teams.
  • Review tender information and develop Contractor’s Proposals, design strategies and programmes.
  • Ensure MEP designs are coordinated, compliant, buildable and commercially viable.
  • Manage consultants and specialist subcontractors, including design development and technical deliverables.
  • Lead BIM, multidisciplinary coordination, design reviews and technical workshops.
  • Manage integration of MEP and specialist/life-safety systems.
  • Identify and mitigate technical, design and commercial risks.
  • Support estimating, procurement, value engineering and subcontractor negotiations.
  • Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, British Standards, CIBSE, BSRIA, CDM and client requirements.
  • Drive buildability, MMC, standardisation, sustainability and design efficiency.
  • Lead design handover to the construction team, ensuring risks, assumptions and requirements are clearly communicated.
  • Support builders’ work coordination and associated MEP requirements.
