Health & Safety Advisor

Location: National travel with regular visits to projects across the Southern Region and periodic travel to Manchester.

We're recruiting on behalf of a leading UK design and build contractor with over 30 years' experience delivering high-quality workplaces and commercial projects across the UK. Due to continued growth, they're looking to appoint an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support and drive their Health & Safety strategy across a national portfolio of projects.

The ideal candidate You'll be an experienced Health & Safety professional with a strong background in the construction sector, ideally within fit-out. You'll be confident working with project teams, subcontractors, clients and senior stakeholders, with the communication skills and resilience to influence positive change across the business.

You'll also have:

  • NEBOSH Certificate (essential)

  • Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations and their practical application

  • Experience advising on safe access systems, including tube and fit and mobile tower scaffolding

  • Knowledge of asbestos management and lifting operations, including mobile crane planning

  • Up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities

  • A collaborative, relationship-led approach to driving behavioural and cultural change

  • Full UK Driving Licence and flexibility to travel nationally

The role The Health & Safety Advisor will play a key role in supporting the company's Health & Safety strategy and maintaining high standards across its national portfolio of projects. You'll carry out regular site audits, develop and review risk assessments, review Construction Phase Plans and compliance documentation, and advise project teams and subcontractors on RAMS and safe systems of work.

You'll also support the design team with CDM compliance and design risk management, provide Health & Safety advice to clients and pre-contract teams, assist with behavioural safety initiatives, investigate accidents and incidents, produce reports and statistics, and support ISO audits and liaison with enforcing authorities where required.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety professional looking to take on a varied and influential role within an established design and build business. With exposure to projects, clients, senior leadership and multiple areas of the Health & Safety function, you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine impact while continuing to develop your professional expertise.
