Design Engineer – Fire Alarm

We’re working with a well-established fire and security specialist who are looking to add an experienced Design Engineer to their team. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid technical knowledge who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and taking ownership of projects from concept through to completion.
You’ll play a key role in producing accurate designs and quotations for fire detection systems, ensuring they meet all relevant standards and client requirements. This position would suit someone who’s detail-oriented, commercially aware, and comfortable working with clients, engineers, and project teams to deliver first-class solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing

Create compliant and cost-effective designs for fire detection and alarm systems.

Prepare accurate costings and support the estimating process for tenders and bids.

Work closely with contractors, project managers, and clients to ensure technical requirements are met.

Provide technical advice and support across the wider business where needed.

Manage multiple design enquiries, keeping projects organised and on track.

Produce CAD drawings and technical documentation for approval and handover.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and design standards (e.g. BS 5839).
What We’re Looking For

Previous experience as a Fire Alarm Design Engineer (or similar role).

Ideally qualified via FIA Design training or equivalent industry certification.

Confident working with major fire system manufacturers (Gent, Hochiki, Advanced, Ziton, etc.).

Proficient in AutoCAD or similar design software.

Excellent communication skills, able to work effectively with both clients and colleagues.

Full, clean UK driving licence.
