About the Role We’re working with a well-established fire and security specialist who are looking to add an experienced Design Engineer to their team. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid technical knowledge who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and taking ownership of projects from concept through to completion.
You’ll play a key role in producing accurate designs and quotations for fire detection systems, ensuring they meet all relevant standards and client requirements. This position would suit someone who’s detail-oriented, commercially aware, and comfortable working with clients, engineers, and project teams to deliver first-class solutions.

- Create compliant and cost-effective designs for fire detection and alarm systems.
- Prepare accurate costings and support the estimating process for tenders and bids.
- Work closely with contractors, project managers, and clients to ensure technical requirements are met.
- Provide technical advice and support across the wider business where needed.
- Manage multiple design enquiries, keeping projects organised and on track.
- Produce CAD drawings and technical documentation for approval and handover.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and design standards (e.g. BS 5839).
- Previous experience as a Fire Alarm Design Engineer(or similar role).
- Ideally qualified via FIA Design
training or equivalent industry certification.
- Confident working with major fire system manufacturers (Gent, Hochiki, Advanced, Ziton, etc.).
- Proficient in AutoCAD
or similar design software.
- Excellent communication skills, able to work effectively with both clients and colleagues.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
