The Opportunity
We are working with a leading consultancy in the building safety and façade engineering space, supporting their continued growth within the external wall and cladding remediation market.
Due to increased demand, they are looking to appoint a Façade Engineer to deliver high-quality technical services across a national portfolio. Opportunities are available from graduate through to senior level.
The Role
This role will focus on delivering Fire Risk Appraisal of External Wall (FRAEW) reports in line with PAS 9980, alongside site inspections, design reviews, and technical advisory work.
You will play a key role in improving building safety outcomes through detailed assessments and expert guidance on façade systems and cladding remediation.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver FRAEW reports in accordance with PAS 9980:2022
- Undertake site inspections of façade systems, cladding, and external wall constructions
- Identify fire safety risks and provide proportionate remediation recommendations
- Carry out third-party design reviews of façade and remediation schemes
- Provide technical advice to clients and internal stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with:
- Building Safety Act 2022
- Fire Safety Act 2021
- Approved Document B
- Relevant standards (e.g. BS 8414, BR 135, BS EN 13501-1)
- Support client relationships and contribute to business development activities
Essential:
- Degree in engineering (façade, fire, structural, civil, or similar)
- Experience within façade engineering, fire safety, or building envelope consultancy
- Strong technical report writing skills
- Understanding of external wall fire risk and remediation strategies
- Knowledge of UK building regulations and fire safety legislation
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload
- Experience delivering FRAEW assessments to PAS 9980
- Chartered or working towards (CEng / IEng)
- Knowledge of cladding systems (rainscreen, curtain walling, ETICS/EWI)
- Experience with remediation projects across residential or mixed-use buildings
- Familiarity with regulatory bodies and funding schemes
