Are you an experienced Cost & Contract Manager with data centre or mission-critical project experience?

We’re partnering with a major project delivery organisation on a flagship hyperscale build and are seeking a commercially driven professional to lead contract and cost management on-site. This is an opportunity to work on one of the most technically complex construction environments in the market.

A leading organisation delivering complex mission-critical construction projects is seeking an experienced Cost & Contract Manager to join a high-profile data centre construction programme.
This is a key site-based role responsible for leading commercial management, contract administration, cost control, change management, and subcontractor commercial performance across a major hyperscale build.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior project leadership, contractors, consultants, and client stakeholders to ensure all commercial activities are effectively managed and delivered to programme objectives.
Key Responsibilities Contract & Commercial Management
  • Lead and manage all contract and commercial workstreams across the project lifecycle
  • Act as the key commercial interface between client, main contractor, and subcontractors
  • Ensure all contractual obligations, commercial processes, and governance requirements are maintained
  • Manage subcontractor accounts, commercial reporting, and contract compliance
  • Prepare and issue commercial correspondence, recommendations, and supporting documentation
  • Maintain accurate commercial registers and reporting records
  • Support tendering strategies and procurement activities
Cost Control & Valuations
  • Manage monthly valuations, applications for payment, and payment certifications
  • Conduct site walks to validate progress against claimed works
  • Review contractor payment applications and assess entitlement
  • Monitor budgets, cost forecasts, and expenditure against approved baselines
  • Produce accurate financial reporting and commercial updates for stakeholders
Change Management
  • Identify variations, risks, and commercial opportunities early
  • Assess cost, scope, programme, and risk implications of changes
  • Lead change control meetings and drive timely closure of variation accounts
  • Provide robust commercial analysis to support decision-making
Project Delivery Support
  • Review construction progress against programme and identify risks or delays
  • Interpret architectural, structural, and technical documentation
  • Collaborate with project management, design, commissioning, and delivery teams
  • Support commercial resolution of project issues in fast-paced site environments
Candidate Profile We are looking for a commercially strong construction professional with proven experience on large-scale complex projects.
Essential Experience
  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline
  • Strong experience managing CSA and MEP subcontract packages
  • Proven background on large industrial, pharmaceutical, commercial, or mission-critical projects
  • Excellent contract and commercial management expertise
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Tendering and contract formation
    • Variations and claims management
    • Monthly valuations and payment processes
    • Cost forecasting and budget control
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and technical documentation
  • Strong financial reporting and data presentation skills
  • Advanced Excel capability
  • Ability to work independently in high-pressure project environments
Technical Knowledge Strong understanding of:
  • Civil and structural construction
  • Building envelope and finishes
  • Construction sequencing and buildability
  • Site logistics and delivery constraints
  • Measurement and estimating processes
  • CAPEX project delivery environments
Desirable
  • Experience on hyperscale or colocation data centre projects
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam or equivalent measurement software
  • Knowledge of FIDIC contracts
