As a commissioning engineer, you would specialize in the installation and startup of energy automation systems for the onshore converter station for an offshore wind project. The role involves the high-voltage direct current (HVDC) converter stations and associated power and control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and managing the commissioning plans, schedules, and test procedures for the converter station and related electrical systems.
- Conducting rigorous tests and inspections on the 400kV and HVDC systems, including primary plant equipment, protection, and control systems, to verify they meet all design specifications and safety standards.
- Diagnosing and resolving any equipment malfunctions or system issues that arise during the commissioning phase.
- Compiling and maintaining detailed records, test documentation, and reports to prove that all mandatory assessments and regulatory requirements have been met.
- Overseeing the work of commissioning teams and subcontractors to ensure safe and efficient execution.
- Acting as a technical interface and collaborating with project managers, contractors, and client representatives.
- Providing training and support to the operational and maintenance teams on the newly commissioned systems.
- A degree in a relevant engineering discipline, such as electrical or mechanical engineering.
- A proven track record in the commissioning and operation of HVDC converter stations is essential.
- Expertise in high-voltage equipment, protection and control systems, and specific technologies like IGBT switching systems.
