Role Type: Contractor-Side – Civils / CSA
We are looking for an experienced Lifting Appointed Person / Temporary Works Coordinator to join the CSA/Civils delivery team on a major 250MW greenfield data centre project in Finland.
The role will have responsibility for the safe planning and coordination of lifting operations, while also supporting the management and control of temporary works across the civils and CSA package.
This is a site-based role working closely with the CSA Project Manager, Site Managers, subcontractors, lifting teams, engineers and wider project team.
The Role You will be responsible for ensuring lifting operations are properly planned, risk assessed and executed safely, while coordinating temporary works activities in accordance with the project requirements and relevant standards.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working directly with civils subcontractors and site teams, reviewing documentation, coordinating activities and ensuring that lifting and temporary works are properly controlled before works commence.
Key Responsibilities Lifting – Appointed Person • Act as the Lifting Appointed Person for the project and take responsibility for the planning of lifting operations
• Develop and review lifting plans, lift studies and risk assessments for complex and routine lifting activities
• Determine suitable cranes, lifting equipment, accessories and configurations for planned operations
• Review ground conditions, crane positioning, access and working areas prior to lifting activities
• Coordinate with crane suppliers, lifting supervisors, banksmen/signallers and subcontractors
• Ensure lifting operations are planned in accordance with relevant legislation, project procedures and safe systems of work
• Review lifting equipment certification and ensure equipment is suitable for the planned operation
• Identify potential lifting risks and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented
• Coordinate lifting activities with other construction works to avoid clashes and unsafe interfaces
• Monitor lifting operations on site and provide technical support where required
Temporary Works Coordinator • Coordinate the planning, design, review and implementation of temporary works across the CSA/civils package
• Maintain oversight of the temporary works register and ensure temporary works are properly categorised, designed and approved
• Coordinate with temporary works designers, engineers, subcontractors and site management
• Review temporary works proposals, drawings, calculations and design information
• Ensure appropriate temporary works design checks are completed before construction
• Ensure temporary works are installed, inspected, maintained and removed in accordance with approved designs
• Support site teams with temporary works queries and technical issues
• Ensure temporary works interfaces are properly coordinated with permanent works and other construction activities
• Maintain appropriate records, inspections and approvals throughout the temporary works process
Project Coordination • Work closely with the CSA Project Manager, Site Managers, Engineers and subcontractors
• Attend construction planning and coordination meetings
• Review upcoming works and identify lifting and temporary works requirements in advance
• Ensure required documentation is in place before activities commence
• Coordinate with the wider project team to ensure lifting and temporary works activities do not impact the construction programme
• Promote a strong safety culture across all lifting and temporary works activities
• Provide practical, site-based support to the construction team
Requirements • Proven experience working as a Lifting Appointed Person on major construction projects
• Strong knowledge of lifting operations, crane planning and lifting equipment
• Previous experience coordinating temporary works on major construction projects
• Experience working within civils, CSA, industrial, infrastructure or data centre projects
• Strong understanding of lifting plans, risk assessments, method statements and temporary works documentation
• Experience coordinating subcontractors and site teams
• Ability to review technical documentation including drawings, calculations and lifting studies
• Strong understanding of construction health & safety requirements
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, site-based environment
• Strong communication and coordination skills
Desirable Experience • Previous experience working on hyperscale data centre projects
• Experience across large-scale CSA/civils packages
• Experience managing lifting and temporary works activities on greenfield projects
• Experience working alongside major civils contractors and specialist subcontractors
• Relevant lifting/appointed person and temporary works qualifications
What We're Looking For We are looking for a practical, site-focused professional who can take ownership of lifting operations and temporary works coordination across a large-scale CSA package.
The ideal candidate will be confident dealing with subcontractors and site teams, technically competent, highly organised and able to identify potential issues before they become problems.
This is a hands-on position for someone who is comfortable being on site, reviewing documentation, coordinating teams and making sure lifting and temporary works are properly planned and controlled.
The role is based in Finland and will require regular site presence.
