v7 Recruitment

Libby Guilfoyle

Business Support Administrator

About me:

Before joining V7, I was working in a children’s home, so moving into recruitment is a completely new chapter for me.

I’d reached the point where I was ready for a change and wanted to move into an environment where there was plenty of opportunity to progress, learn new things and build a longer-term career.

I actually already knew a bit about V7 through Lauren, who I’m friends with outside of work. Seeing how happy she was here and how much she’d progressed within the business definitely caught my attention. It gave me a good idea of the culture before I joined and showed me that there was genuine opportunity to grow.

I’m now working as a Business Support Administrator, splitting my time between supporting Alex’s side of the business and working closely with the Operations team, so there should be plenty to keep me busy!

Outside of work, I’m a big fan of the gym and I do enjoy hiking, although I probably need to get back into that one a little more! Travelling is a huge thing for me too. I recently came back from spending two years in Australia, which was an amazing experience.

Film-wise, I know it’s predictable, but The Notebook is probably up there. Basically, if there’s a cheesy rom-com involved, particularly a 90s one, I’m probably watching it.

What attracted you to V7 Recruitment?

Progression and culture were probably the two biggest things for me.

I wanted somewhere with a positive, supportive team around me, but also somewhere I could keep learning rather than feeling limited to one set of responsibilities.

Seeing Lauren’s experience at V7 gave me a really good insight into that. I’d seen how much she’d developed since joining and how much she genuinely enjoyed working here, so when the opportunity came up it felt like a really exciting move.

I’m looking forward to getting properly involved, learning both sides of my role and seeing where I can take it.

Construction employer reviewing a CV as less visible skills become more important during recruitment

37% of Construction employers link employability skills gaps with staff turnover. See what a CV can miss and what employers should assess before making a hire.

September has always had a reputation for waking the jobs market back up. Summer holidays end, decision-makers return and hiring conversations that went quiet in July and August start moving again. For employers, it can feel like the obvious point to get recruitment moving before the final few months of the year. But the September surge isn’t as predictable as it used to be. Advertised UK vacancies actually fell month-on-month in two of the last three Septembers. At the same time, the wider UK job market in 2026 has softened, with fewer vacancies overall and more candidates available for work. On paper, that should make Q4 hiring easier. For some roles, it probably does. For specialist hiring, it’s not quite that simple. In this article, we look at what the latest UK labour-market data tells us about September hiring, why specialist recruitment can still be difficult in a softer market and what that means for employers heading into Q4.
